Melanie is a general surgeon with an interest in breast surgery who has been providing services to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula since 2006.

Melanie is a general surgeon with an interest in breast surgery who has been providing services to Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula since 2006.

She graduated from Monash University in 1996 and trained in general surgery at the Alfred Hospital, obtaining her FRACS in 2002. She then undertook a further three years training in breast surgery in the UK, including an Oncoplastic Fellowship year at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit, Glasgow. 

Melanie has an interest in oncoplastic breast surgery, that is, the combination of optimal cancer surgery with plastic surgical techniques to achieve the best oncological and aesthetic outcome after breast surgery. She is heavily involved in the teaching of these surgical techniques to breast surgeons in Australia and New Zealand. 

Melanie is Vice President of BreastSurgANZ, the specialist society for treating breast disease in Australia and New Zealand. She is a member of BreastSurgANZ, the Australasian Society of Breast Disease, the Association of Breast Surgery (UK), the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine and the AMA.
