Birth Suites

Peninsula Private Hospital has 3 spacious and highly equipped Birth Suites, which provide a safe and relaxed environment during labour and birth. Each suite contains all the necessary safety equipment for the birth of your baby.

Multi functional birthing beds, large private ensuite with shower and a range of therapeutic comfort tools are accessible while you are in the birthing suite. Access to advanced medical equipment, theatre facilities, anaesthetists and paediatricians are on hand around the clock, should they be required.

Your partner and a support person are welcome to be present during labour and birth. Each birthing suite has a comfortable recliner, flat screen LCD TV, CD/IPod player and kitchenette facilities.

Your Accomodation

During your stay, you’ll enjoy a spacious private room designed for comfort and relaxation, complete with a modern ensuite, mini-fridge, TV and Wi-Fi.

Many rooms overlook peaceful leafy courtyards, creating a calm and welcoming environment for you and your family.

Your partner is welcome to stay overnight to share this special time and provide support.

Your stay is usually up to four nights, and up to five nights following a caesarean birth.

Our maternity unit is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced midwives who will support you throughout your recovery. They will work closely with you and your partner to build confidence in feeding, settling and caring for your newborn, while supporting your transition into parenthood.

For your convenience, Hudsons Café is located in the hospital’s main foyer, offering a range of snacks, meals and beverages.

Our Special Care Nursery

At Peninsula Private Hospital, our Special Care Nursery provides specialised support for babies who need a little extra care after birth. This may include babies born from 35 weeks’ gestation, babies who were born early, or those requiring additional monitoring and support during their first days of life.

Our nursery is staffed 24 hours a day by experienced midwives with specialised neonatal training and is supported by dedicated paediatricians who are available around the clock. This gives families the reassurance that expert care is always close at hand.

There are many reasons a baby may spend time in the Special Care Nursery. Some babies need help with feeding, maintaining their temperature or monitoring their breathing, while others may require extra observation as they adjust to life outside the womb. Whatever the reason, our team is committed to providing gentle, individualised care in a nurturing environment.

We understand that having your baby admitted to the Special Care Nursery can be unexpected and may bring many questions and emotions. Our caring team will keep you informed and involved in your baby’s care, offering support, guidance and reassurance every step of the way.
