Peninsula one of the first to implant new stroke prevention device

Peninsula Private Hospital is among the first hospitals in Australia to implant the first-in-class WATCHMAN® Left Atrial Appendage (LAA) Closure device for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) who require blood thinning medications to reduce their risk of stroke. Dr Greg Szto and Dr Rodney Teperman performed the first procedures on the Mornington Peninsula at Peninsula Private Hospital on Wednesday 27th March 2013. It is understood to be one of the first private hospitals in Victoria to implant the Watchman device.
