Peninsula Private Hospital has 3 spacious and highly equipped Birth Suites, which provide a safe and relaxed environment during labour and birth. Each suite contains all the necessary safety equipment for the birth of your baby.

Multi functional birthing beds, large private ensuite with shower, access to a deep bath, and a range of therapeutic comfort tools are accessible while you are in the birthing suite. Access to advanced medical equipment, theatre facilities, anaesthetists and paediatricians are on hand around the clock, should they be required.

Your partner and a support person are welcome to be present during labour and birth. Each birthing suite has a comfortable recliner, flat screen LCD TV, CD/IPod player, bedside telephone and kitchenette facilities.

You are guaranteed a spacious, private room with your own modern ensuite. Our contemporary rooms are stylishly appointed, most featuring double beds and overlooking tranquil, leafy courtyards. Your partner is welcome to stay with you overnight to share the experience and support you.

If you have had a normal, uncomplicated birth, your stay is usually up to four nights, and five nights following a caesarean section birth. The maternity unit is staffed around the clock with experienced midwives who will support you during childbirth and your recovery and work closely with you and your partner as you develop your parenting, feeding and newborn settling and care skills. Your stay is further enhanced with the provision of flat screen TVs and access to Foxtel and Wifi in every room. An onsite Hudsons Cafe offering delicious snacks and beverages is located in the main foyer of the hospital for your convenience.

The Special Care Nursery at Peninsula Private Hospital is a Level 2 nursery that is able to provide specialised care for the needs of babies born early (after 35 weeks), or those who are unwell and/or require extra care and support.

Experienced midwives trained in neonatal care staff the unit 24 hours a day and are supported by a team of experienced Paediatricians who are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week offering parents the reassurance of the best quality expert care.

There are many reasons why a baby requires admission to a Special Care Nursery. They may have been born prematurely (before 37 completed weeks) or are unwell. This means that extra nursing care is required and this extra care is provided in the Special Care Nursery within Peninsula Maternity at Peninsula Private Hospital.
