Peninsula Private Hospital Launches Leading Edge Cardiac Care Services

2003

A new angiography suite at Peninsula Private Hospital will offer leading edge facilities and service for the treatment of cardiac patients.

Peninsula Private Hospital is installing a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory to allow local specialists to perform a range of procedures including angiograms and angioplasty.

Head of the new suite, Cardiologist, Dr Gregory Szto believes the facilities provided will significantly benefit the community. “Cardiac patients now have a range of treatments available to them locally, rather than having to travel further afield,” he says. “This will particularly benefit those requiring urgent treatment following cardiac arrest or an angina episode.”

Chief Executive Officer of Peninsula Private Hospital, Pat Quinn says, “Peninsula Private Hospital is committed to offering the highest standard of diagnostic and interventional cardiac imaging facilities available. The new angiography suite has been fitted with equipment from Siemens Medical Technologies which is the latest cardiac catheterisation technology available today. It features technology never before seen in Australia and was chosen by our cardiologists to provide the best possible patient care and outcomes.”

Specialists consulting at the new suite will include Drs Geoffrey Toogood, Graeme Beacom and Palanand Arunothayara, all of whom specialise in coronary artery disease management and pacemaker and erythema management.

A Cardiac Angiogrpahay Suite Manager and a Resident Medical Officer covering overnight, weekends, and public holidays will have 24-hour access to a Cardiologist or Physician, while the eight patient beds will be monitored by specialist coronary-care nurses.
